I will try again, but will probably be more brief.

I have read from Voltaire's works. To me he seemed to have an inner conflict with his relationship with God. You mentioned how he was disenchanted with the Church, and that he certainly was. He was against the hypocrisy and politics of the Church and sometimes seemed angry at God. I'm not saying he wasn't an atheist, I don't really know. That was just the sense I got from his life and works.

Is Christianity on it's way out? My wife and I helped support a young (cute) missionary from our town to go to a college campus in England and spread the Gospel message. And your statistics are unfortunately accurate. Maybe 90% of all churches in England have closed down over the past 50-100 years to become bookstores, taverns, restaurants or movie theaters.

She would send us updates on her ministry. I was shocked to hear that only 2 or 3% of those young college kids believed in God.

Now let me follow up on the conversation you were having with the fellow who brought up the Jewish people. Although the Jews rebelled, worshiped other gods and chose only to honor God with their lips and not their hearts, God always kept a small remnant of the faithful to carry out His plan.

So if there are only 2 or 3% of Believers in England, and one day America has only 2 or 3% of Believers that will be the remnant left to carry out God's plan. As I mentioned earlier in my post, "the gates of Hell shall not prevail against the Church". We may be down, but don't count us out.

2nd Thessalonians chap.2 tells us that Christ wont return until a great falling away. Maybe we are living in this time of falling away now?

And yes, knowledge is probably the biggest reason for this falling away. The more we learn the more we think that maybe we got here some way other than God? And if there is a God, then we have deceived ourselves with our wisdom and have become fools. 1st Corinthians 3:18-23.

To your point about knowledge, it is important to make decisions based upon being informed, and if it makes you feel better, we Christians can't please God without having faith. Maybe without faith all the knowledge man can acquire is not enough to prove that there is a God. But I will try with a new post soon. Even If I have to go out on a limb with my limited scientific background?

Later, feenTristan Vickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05348780254008374268noreply@blogger.com
